Goat Cheese

One of my favorite foods year ’round is goat cheese. I’ve been without for about 3 weeks, since we moved and haven’t stocked up because we are no longer as close to our favorite grocery store as we used to be. Safeway, for some strange reason, does not seem to carry actual goat cheese, just Boursin spread which is good, but not quite what I’m after.

I’m after thick, creamy, slightly sweet, slightly salty, tangy goat cheese to spread on crisp, fresh baguette from the Acme bread company. It’s one of my favorite snacks and I’ve been missing it these past few weeks, though the fruit I’ve been nibbling on is tasty and better for my heart.

The house smells of lamb and garlic and potatoes, Sabs is home tonight and he is cooking. Sometimes it is such a blessing having a chef in the house. My stomach is grumbling audibly and my mouth is watering in anticipation of a delicious meal, so the goat cheese is a welcome appetizer to share with the kids who love the stuff probably even more than I do.
