Right after Thanksgiving, there were only a few, a string here, some candy canes there, a giant inflatable snowmen dominating a tiny yard.
Every night, there are more and more, twinkling in the darkness, bright heralds of the Solstice to come.
Some houses cling to the simplicity of a few white strands. Others festoon themselves in jewel tone necklaces and fantastic whorls, a mere backdrop for elaborate front yard scenes of capering reindeer, gallivanting Santas, choirs of angels, or peaceful Nativities.
We love to pack the family up in the car and drive around to take them all in. It’s one of my favorite parts of the season.
