It’s been unseasonably warm this autumn, though the temperatures have finally dipped down enough that it feels like autumn most days. It just seems like it should be a bit colder in early December than it has been. That said, I’m not going to complain about the electric bill being lower than anticipated because the baseboard heaters aren’t kicking on.
We heat the house primarily with a Caloric coal stove and use the baseboard heaters and upstairs wood-burning fireplace as supplements. It can get quite toasty warm in here when the stove really gets going, so the baseboard heaters are barely needed.
For all its flaws, our house is a cozy, warm place to come home to at the end of a long day.
The days have been mighty long lately too, mostly due to a lot of demands on my time at work. I’m looking forward to winding down next week, transitioning into holiday vacation, followed by maternity leave, and snuggling in to wait for our next little bundle of joy to join us before the new year.
