If the night turned cold and the stars looked down
And you hug yourself on the cold cold ground
You wake the morning in a stranger's coat
No one would you see
You ask yourself, who'd watch for me
My only friend, who could it be
It's hard to say it
I hate to say it, but it's probably me

So remember about my coat? The one I lost ...

Well for the past 3 days, UPS has been trying to deliver a package from Land's End. Sabs handed me the little stickynote they leave on the door and asks me what I ordered. I frown ..hmmm.. "I don't remember ordering anything recently" maybe there was something missing from the last order.

Unfortunately we're not usually home during regular delivery hours so we keep missing the package, but finally today, I'm home early because it's Tuesday. The UPS man grins and hands me the package I sign off on the nifty electronic keypad thingie and take it inside. I look at it kind of funny and promptly sit down on the floor to open it. I'm like that with packages I get all excited and can't wait to see. So, I pop open the box and a card falls out "Sorry you lost your coat, but don't feel too blue, maybe someone else needed it." Inside is a beautiful new Squall Parka from Land's End with a matching hat.

My mouth dropped to the floor and tears promptly ran down my face from the sheer kindness and generosity of this act. Some of you offered me your own coats and one person did offer to buy me a coat, but the note was unsigned so I don't know who sent it for sure, though someone was recently asking me what my favorite color was and knows my mailing address ...
To whomever sent the coat and hat: Thank you. I'll be warm and toasty and not have to worry about yet another unexpected expense on a very tight budget especially as the Christmas season swings around. You made my day and restored some of my faith in the goodness of the human race.
