7 Weird Things

Apr 16th, 2008 by heidi

From The Cooler, More Artistic Heidi of Daisybones who tagged me to do this ages ago (and then I forgot).

1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 random and or weird things about yourself.
3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. I don’t tag people. Do it if you want to!
4. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. Ditto

Doing these things makes me feel really boring…

1. I can curl my tongue into a little tube. Apparently this is genetic – my siblings and mother can also do this. My father cannot and neither can my husband (a source of much envy on his part, I know!). The jury is still out on whether or not Ciaran has inherited this especially nifty genetic trait.

2. I used to only have two freckles on my body, at least on parts I can see easily! One was on the web between my thumb and forefinger of my left hand and the other was on my right big toe. Magically, I recently developed a THIRD freckle, about one centimeter from the one on my big toe!

3. Can’t wear socks in bed. On cold nights my feet are always freezing when I climb into bed but unless I’m really, really sick and have a high fever (and am therefore freezing no matter how many blankets I wear), I can’t fall asleep with socks on.

4. As a compulsive overeater, you’d think I’d overeat on anything. Not true! I will not eat M&Ms (or differently-named similar candy-shell covered chocolates). You could put a HUGE bowl of M&Ms in front of me when I’m hungry and unless I were literally starving to death, I wouldn’t eat one. I don’t even like cookies with M&Ms in them. I will make an exception for the peanut butter kind.

5. My favourite kind of ice cream is vanilla. Plain vanilla. I like to jazz it up with fresh fruit (especially strawberries!) and hot fudge with nuts but I could live quite happily if there were no other ice cream flavour in the world but vanilla. It has to be good vanilla, though! My favourite thing to DO with vanilla ice cream, aside from slicing up strawberries in it, is stirring and smooshing it until it goes really creamy but not melted, like soft-serve ice cream.

If there were no other flavour of ice cream, though, I’d miss chocolate-chip cookie dough ice cream the most.

6. I’ve taken hundreds of photos of my kid but don’t have any that I’ve had printed for display in my own home. I need to do that!

7. When I was in junior high, I once read over 27,000 pages’ worth of books in one month to win a reading competition. The thing is…that’s what I read normally. I didn’t go out of my way to read more! I don’t read that much these days but I usually go through 2-3 books a week (more if I have extra free time). I should do better about recording and reviewing them, because I know posterity cares passionately about my opinions of current fiction!
