Things that make me happy
Sep 4th, 2007 by heidi
Amongst the fuss of teething babies, increasingly insane work as the academic year begins, and the insanity of our perpetually messy flat, I can find it very hard to treasure the little moments that make my day/week/year better.
Just a few of the things I love:
– A freshly made bed
– The expression on Ciaran’s face, the one but me will ever see, when he’s nursing and starts to smile at something that I’ve said or done; his lips curve and his eyes sparkle but he still tenaciously holds onto my nipple for dear life as he tries not to laugh.
– Spooning with Graham in bed with his arms wrapped around me
– An empty, clean kitchen counter
– Having a couple of hours to myself to do whatever I want without toddler interruption
– Thunderstorms
– Ciaran’s bizarre giggle-fits when I can’t figure out why in the world he’s laughing
– Fondling new cross-stitch stash
– Biting into a freshly buttered baguette
– A big vase of fresh flowers on my empty, clean kitchen counter
– The sound of rain on my window
– Letters! Packages! Non-bill mail!
– Finishing a journal entry, even if it was supposed to be longer…
