Is that a fact?

Written in response to Renee's call for factoid pages ...

  • Zodiac: Aquarius

  • Chinese Zodiac: Wood Tiger
  • Politics: Moderate-to-Liberal. Though I hate the process of politics itself.

  • God?: I do not believe in God as I have heard him/her/it formulated by most major world religions.

  • Religion: A varied mish-mash of Judeo-Christian, Wiccan, Buddhist and Hindu beliefs. Staying open-minded is key.

  • Worst Flaw: Anger. Temper, temper mon capitaine.

  • Best Strength: Creativity and generosity. I love to make things to make people happy.

  • Phobia: I am afraid of heights, but thrilled by them at the same time. When up high I become obsessed with the need to fly. Gravity is a challenge, not an obstacle.

  • Scars: I sliced off the top of my left little toe tripping on a grate at the swimming pool when I was 11 years old. This also left a nasty gouge in the next toe over which had to have stitches. All 2 of them. This is almost completely unnoticeable and is the only "surgery" I've had other than having my wisdom teeth pulled.

  • Speaking of wisdom teeth: I had five of 'em.

  • Hair: Reddish Brown. I used to be able to sit on my hair. I cut it up to my ear-lobes when I was 20 after years of it inching up bit by bit. I'm growing it back. After five years it's nearly in the middle of my back. Not much farther to go.

  • Eyes: Two. Blue. I am VERY far-sighted and my left eye wanders. I wear these oval glasses that look much better than my old ones but are very "teachery".

  • Ears: Two. Very small. Pierced at age 10

  • Complexion: Fair. I've got that whole peaches and cream thang going on. The one hundred small gods were kind to me -- I rarely break out.

  • Pet Peeves: Dishonesty, and clothes left on the floor by the bed.

  • Least Favorite Foods: I hate mayonnaise, mustard, relish, salad dressing and almost any other kind of sauce you could possibly think of putting on a sandwich, except butter. I love butter. But in the interests of weight and heart health, I no longer indulge myself on a regular basis.

  • Favorite Foods: Chooooooocolate! Tuna fish. French fries. Popovers. Salsa!

  • Soda: Dr. Pepper, Root Beer or Ginger Ale. No diet soda -- the taste of Nutrasweet makes me ill.

  • Ice Cream: Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Or, more generically, chocolate chip.

  • Hobbies: I am a bookworm, an artist and a die-hard science-fiction/fantasy fan. I also sew. A lot.

  • Talents: I can read a page per minute in a large page, small typeface book. I play the oboe, piano and recorder. I sing mezzo-soprano.

  • Languages: English. French. Spanish. Japanese

  • Cats: There are four currently inhabiting my life: Shara Khan (brown and gray tabby with white socks, tummy and patch between her lovely forest-green eyes) and her three children: Mephistopheles (Mephisto) Phishface (perfect little tuxedo cat with a big voice), Sasha Flufftail (also a tux cat, but fuzzy and a girl), Tiger Toebiter (looks just like mom sans white patch between the eyes)

  • Music: I own the Time-Life 80's music series on CD. Enya. Clannad. Mike Oldfield. Enigma. Billy Idol. Pet Shop Boys. Handel. Bach. (can we say eclectic?) No country, no rap.

  • Books: I don't have ONE favorite author. But J.R.R. Tolkien, Guy Gavriel Kay, Tad Williams, Mercedes Lackey, Anne McCaffrey, Judith Tarr and Robin McKinley top the list.

  • How I Learned To Read: The Hobbit was the first full-length book I ever read. My father started reading it to me when I was 4. I don't know exactly when, but I started picking it up after he'd turned the lights out to see what happened next.

  • Favorite Time of Day: Twilight

  • Most Creative Time of Day: 22:00-2:00

  • Coffee? Tea?: I hate coffee ... but I LOVE tea and hot cocoa

  • I slapped a boy on the playground when I was ten. He had a handprint on his face for 2 days.

  • I pass out when I have blood drawn.

  • I hate clearing the dishwsher after it's been run.

  • I love taking walks, but never seem to make time to do so.

  • I am not a morning person.

  • Yes I do have pictures of myself around here somewhere. No you can't see them right now. I'm still reformatting this journal almost a year after instituting the current design. The archives are taking forever. Well ... okay, here is one.
